Neuromorphic microprocessors, sometimes referred to as neurosynaptic processors or electronic brain (e-brain) chips, are gaining momentum, as technology organizations ranging from IBM to the U.S. National Sceience Foundation (NSF) and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to Intel to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) are pushing developments in the category.
